Phish frontman Trey Anastasio is trying to get Peter Gabriel to join the band. He tells "Rolling Stone" he's been a huge fan of the former Genesis leader his entire life, adding that he spent most of his high school years "in a dark closet with headphones" listening to the band's classic 1974 album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
So a few years ago, Anastasio approached Gabriel about performing the record on stage together. The project never panned out, but Anastasio is extending the invitation again.
Phish is set to play a classic album this Halloween in Atlantic City, and Anastasio says they're open to playing The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. He says he can play the album in his sleep, but he'll only play it on stage if Gabriel joins them.
Anastasio may have his work cut out for him when it comes to getting Gabriel on board. Gabriel hasn't performed any Genesis music on stage in the past 30 years. Plus, he's scheduled to spend most of this October on the road in Europe performing his 1986 solo album So.
